After ten years together we were definitely ready to be married. Jake and I went back and forth about eloping for a few months before committing to a wedding, as I think many COVID couples have. I never really pictured myself as a bride and the thought of planning a big day was daunting. Ultimately, we decided to truly make it a day that would be special for us and include our family and closest friends. But if we were going to have a wedding we were going to do it our way. Our wedding was a brunch theme. As a night shift nurse I usually get home just in time for Jake and I to have breakfast together before heading off to sleep and he starts his day. Breakfast became “our meal” so a brunch theme was special for us. We did our vows privately during our first look which made for an extremely intimate moment for the two of us. We kept our ceremony short and sweet but included a hand fasting ceremony which we also had planned on doing if we had eloped.
Part of the reason we considered eloping was because I had a hard time picturing myself as a bride, but the styling of Denise and hair and makeup from Luscious and Co truly made me feel like a bride. The day of the wedding I couldn’t have imagined doing anything different! It was perfect. And I felt perfect- which I contribute largely to my Justin Alexander dress. Our photographer Cora made us feel incredibly comfortable in front of the camera. Our flowers from Tracy Watcher with Rebel Rose Floral were absolutely stunning and blew me away. She really gave our wedding the exact aesthetic I was looking for.
For anyone on the edge about having a wedding or not - I say do it and make it yours! I have no regrets. And after doing it I feel like there is something truly special about standing up in front of all your family and friends and telling the world I found my person! Celebrate your love.
